KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a presentation on foreign affairs and the diplomatic code of conduct for all ministers.
At a program held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai briefed the ministers on foreign affairs and diplomatic conduct.
According to the ministry, the presentation covered the international context, Nepal’s external relations, the promotion of national interests, and the country’s overall foreign policy. It also outlined the procedures, limitations, and diplomatic norms to be followed in conducting foreign policy.
In his presentation, Secretary Rai highlighted the priorities of Nepal’s foreign policy, the need to maintain balanced relations, and the technical aspects of the diplomatic code of conduct.
Ministers were also briefed on essential protocols, from basic etiquette during meetings with foreign officials to mandatory diplomatic practices.
Although the ministry has formulated a diplomatic code of conduct, which has been discussed and approved by the cabinet with some revisions, it has yet to be implemented effectively.
