Foreign Minister Rana off to Oman

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arju Rana Deuba left for an official visit to Oman on Friday at the invitation of her counterpart Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

She is leading a four-member Nepali delegation for a week-long visit, according to the foreign ministry.

During the visit, Minister Dr Rana will participate in the 8th Indian Ocean Conference being held in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on February 16-17 under the theme ‘Voyage to New Horizons of Maritime Partnership’.
Rana is scheduled to address the plenary session of the conference on the topic of ‘Amplifying the Voice of the Global South’. Additionally, she is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Oman’s Foreign Minister Al Busaidi, Minister of Energy and Minerals Salim bin Nasser bin Said Al Aufi and other relevant Omani officials.

Some memorandums of understanding in areas of mutual cooperation are also expected to be signed during the visit.

According to the ministry, Minister Rana will also hold a virtual meeting with Nepali ambassadors and mission chiefs stationed in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. She will also address the Nepali community during her stay in Muscat.
