KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba held a bilateral meeting with her Japanese Iwaya Takeshi at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo on Thursday.
The two ministers discussed a wide range of issues related to Nepal-Japan bilateral relations, mutual interests and shared concerns.
According to the foreign ministry, Dr Rana expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government and people of Japan for their long-standing support in Nepal’s economic, social and developmental sectors.
She also informed Minister Takeshi that Nepal is on track to graduate from Least Developed Country (LDC) status to a developing nation by 2026 and expressed confidence that Japan, as a longstanding partner, would continue its support in the post-graduation phase.
The discussion also covered the upcoming 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan.
On the occasion, Dr Rana extended a formal invitation to Minister Takeshi to visit Nepal next year to commemorate the milestone.
She also thanked the Japanese government for its active and constructive participation, led by its Deputy Foreign Minister, at the Sagarmatha Sambaad held in Kathmandu earlier this week.
