KATHMANDU: A total of 67,258 Nepali workers went abroad for foreign employment in the month of Poush (mid-Dec to mid-Jan).

According to the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), this represents a decrease of 16,968 workers compared to Mangsir (mid-Nov to mid-Dec). A record-high 84,226 workers had departed for foreign job destinations in Mangsir.

According to the DoFE, during Poush, 29,316 individuals left for employment through manpower agencies, 10,085 received new individual labor approvals, 27,203 renewed their labor approvals, and 655 workers went to South Korea and Israel under government-facilitated programs.

With this, the number of youths leaving for foreign employment reached 393,067 over the first six months of 2024/25.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) attracted the highest number of Nepali workers in the review month, followed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
