KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Senior Vice President Anjan Shrestha announced his panel for the upcoming election for the new leadership of the apex body of the Nepali private sector.
Shrestha will be automatically elevated to the post of President after the 60th Annual General Meeting of the FNCCI scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on April 12 and 13.
However, the new Senior Vice President will not be elevated directly to the post of President, as a special general meeting held in December 2024 approved a proposal to introduce direct elections for the post.
Shrestha’s panel has named Shiva Prasad Ghimire as its candidate for Vice President-Commodity, Prabal Jung Pandey for Vice President-Associate, Dil Sundar Shrestha, and Krishna Prasad Sharma for Vice President-Industry Commerce.
Shrestha has not named his candidate for Senior Vice President, as both Sur Krishna Vaidya and Ram Chandra Shanghai are vying for the position. Shanghai and Vaidya were in the same panel in the previous election when Shanghai lost to Shrestha for the post of Senior Vice President.
Raghunandan Maru, Rabin Puri, Arniko Rajbhandari, Rajkumar Karki, Basanta Chandra Marhattha, Sunita Nhyemafuki, Sangharsha Bista, Rajesh Bhakta Shrestha, Hom Prasad Ghimire, Dhana Prasad Lamichhane, Dharma Raj Sapkota, Krishna Prasad Awale, AB Bahadur Thapa, Bishwanath Khanal, Naniraj Ghimire, and Dhruva Bahadur Gautam are the candidates for Executive Members-Commodity from Shrestha’s panel.
Similarly, Nabin Rijal, Bed Bahadur Shrestha, Nawaraj Subedi, and Thakur Shrestha are candidates for Executive Members-Industry Commerce.
Likewise, Avigya Malla, Ambika Prasad Paudel, Babukaji Karki, Hemant Golchha, Ishwor GC, Juna Mathema, Krishnalal Maharjan, Nicholas Pandey, Priyaraj Regmi, Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Rishi Agrawal Chainawala, RS Bhandari, Shakti Kumar Begani, Sushil Thapa, Suyash Pyakurel and Ujwal Kumar Shrestha are candidates for Executive Members-Associate.
Incumbent Vice President-Commodity Hemraj Dhakal announced his panel for the election under his leadership about a month ago. Hemraj is the younger brother of incumbent FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal.
