FNCCI chairs Dhakal addresses ILO conference

KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal has said that Nepal’s improved labor relations, recent economic reforms, and its strategic location between India and China have significantly increased investment opportunities in the country.

Addressing the 112th International Labor Conference in Geneva on Wednesday, Dhakal urged employers attending the conference to consider investing in Nepal. He mentioned that India has signed an agreement to import 10,000 MW of hydropower from Nepal and that discussions are ongoing for power export to Bangladesh. Dhakal said these agreements have assured a market for hydropower generated in Nepal.

Dhakal also noted that the government has been reforming laws to simplify investment procedures and implementing a policy to eliminate double taxation to attract more investments.

The FNCCI President also held meetings with senior officials from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) on the sidelines of the conference.
