JANAKPURDHAM: The Food Management and Trading Company (FMTC) has begun producing vitamin-fortified rice at its provincial office in Janakpurdham.
According to Office Chief Ganga Prasad Sah, the office has started producing and distributing this nutrient-enriched rice.
A fortification plant has been installed within the office premises with the support of the World Food Programme (WFP). This plant not only produces vitamin-fortified rice but also conducts quality testing.
The plant was installed in April 2024.
The nutrition-enhanced rice produced at this facility is being distributed in the Karnali Province. According to Sah, the process involves mixing vitamin-enriched rice flour with rice at a ratio of 1 kg flour per 100 kg of rice.
Similar plants have been installed at the FMTC offices in Surkhet and Kathmandu.
