KATHMANDU: At least 37 people have died and five are injured in floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall across various municipalities of Ilam district.
The death toll has reached 37 as of 1:30 pm on Sunday.
According to the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal, eight have died in Deumai Municipality and Mai Jogmai Rural Municipality each, six each in Ilam Municipality and Sandakpur Rural Municipality, five in Suryodaya Rural Municipality, three in Mansebung Rural Municipality and one in Phakphokthum Rural Municipality
With this, the total number of deceased from different incidents in the past two days has reached 49 across the country. According to the APF, 37 have died in Ilam (flood and landslides), six in Parchthar (road accident), three in Rautahat, including two from lightning, two in Bhojpur, lighting and one in Khotang (lightning).
