Floods, landslides claim 14 lives; 11 missing Representative Image

KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides triggered by continuous rain have claimed 14 lives across the country since Friday afternoon, while 11 others are missing.

According to DSP Shailendra Thapa, spokesperson for the Armed Police Force (APF), three people each have died in Kavre and Bhaktapur, while two each have lost their lives in Panchthar and Dhankuta. Likewise, one each lost their lives in Jhapa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Dhading, Thapa added.

Four people each are missing in both Kathmandu and Bhaktapur districts, two in Dhankuta and one in Dhading.

A total of 162 houses have been damaged by floods, with 77 in Jhapa district alone, according to APF. Additionally, floods in the Trishuli River swept away three tipper trucks and two excavators from the Trishuli B Hydropower Project site in Dhading.
