DHANGADHI: As many as five police personnel deployed on election duty died when a jeep fell 200 meters off the road in Baitadi district of Sudurpashchim Province in far-western Nepal.
According to Deepak Bista, chairperson of Patan Municipality Ward-4, the jeep met with an accident at Thum early Monday morning. “We have recovered five bodies so far. Three others are injured,” Bista said.
The jeep carrying a patrol team of police was coming to Patan from Baitadi. The identity of the deceased has not been identified yet.
Chief District Officer of Baitadi, Suresh Panthi, said the local administration has requested a helicopter from Surkhet to airlift the injured to a hospital in Kohalpur.
