Five pilgrims dead in Nawalparasi bus accident

KATHMANDU: Five persons died and as many as 29 were injured when a passenger bus carrying pilgrims to Manakamana Temple of Gorkha from Palpa district met with an accident in Nawalparasi early Sunday morning.

The injured are receiving treatment in Rampur and Bharatpur.

Two buses carrying pilgrims had left from Rambha Rural Municipality Ward-1. One of them met with an accident at Mathar of Bulingar-2, according to Police Station at Dedhgaun.

The ill-fated bus fell nearly 100 meters from the Kaliganaki Corridor road.

According to District Police Office, Nawalparasi, the deceased have been identified as Tara BK (41), Dhani BK (62), Ninaya BK (17) and Devi Gaha (58) of Hungi in Rambha-1, and Fulmaya BK of Galyang-9 of Syangja.

The buses were operated by Rampur Yatayat Pvt Ltd. The buses had left the village at 9 pm on Saturday. The accident is believed to have happened at around 3 am.
