Five new ministers of Bagmati sworn in

KATHMANDU: Five new ministers of the Bagmati Province Government were sworn in on Friday.

Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers amid a ceremony in Hetauda.

Earlier, Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya appointed Kanchan Chandra Bade as Minister for Social Development, Prabhat Tamang as Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Urmila KC Nepal as Minister for Youth and Sports, Suresh Shrestha as Minister for Culture and Tourism, and Binu Rayamajhi as Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

All these new ministers are from his party, the Nepali Congress (NC).

Baniya, earlier on July 5, appointed five ministers from coalition partner CPN-UML. They included Madhusudan Paudel as Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr. Dinesh Chandra Devkota as Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development, Bharat KC as Minister for Forests and Environment, Jayram Thapa as Minister for Labor and Transport, and Bindu Shrestha as Minister for Industry, Commerce, Land and Administration.

He had also appointed two ministers from his party on July 5. Krishna Tamang was appointed as the Minister for Water Supply, Energy and Irrigation, while Shiva Raj Adhikari was appointed as a minister without portfolio. Adhikari was assigned the Internal Affairs and Law portfolio on Friday.
