Five dead in Chandragiri road accident

KATHMANDU: Five persons of the same family died when a passenger car met with an accident near Seto Pahara on the Thankot-Chitlang Road in Chandragiri Municipality-4 of Kathmandu on Saturday.

According to the police, four died on the spot while one succumbed to injuries during treatment. The car, which was heading to Chitlang from Kathmandu, fell some 500 meters below the road, according to police.

The deceased have been identified as Omkar Nidhi Tiwari (67) of Kathmandu and his wife Kalpana (56), the couple’s son-in-law Mahesh Kumar Gautam, and Mahesh Kumar’s son Priyansh (4), and daughter Smarika (6). Mahesh Kumar’s wife, Shristi, managed to save herself as the car was falling off the road.
