ITAHARI: Koshi Chief Minister Kedar Karki has stated that the budget for the fiscal year 2023/24, brought through a replacement bill, will be fully implemented.
Speaking at an interaction with reporters at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning on Sunday, he requested media persons not to harbor any doubts about the implementation of the budget.
Stating that the budget is not only focused on physical development, he mentioned that the replacement bill also emphasizes overall human development. “The programs that we have included in the budget will be implemented from the day the Bill is passed by the provincial assembly. We have already taken necessary steps to make a prosperous province,” he added.
Karki also urged people’s representatives not to propose projects and programs with personal interests. “We won’t allocate piecemeal budgets. Projects and programs finalized by the provincial planning commission will receive priority and be implemented in a planned manner,” he said, adding that the provincial planning commission has already started its work.
Chief Minister Karki, who also handles the economic affairs portfolio, tabled the Bill to Replace Budget Ordinance on Saturday.
The provincial government has introduced programs such as providing free treatment for children up to 10 years of age, bringing water from the Tamor River to Dharan, subsidies on the export of powdered milk and ghee, building a provincial burns hospital in Itahari, constructing the Sailaja Acharya Heart Center in Biratnagar, establishing a free legal counsel center in every district of the province, and waiving off interest on loans availed by landless and squatter people to build homes, among others.
