KATHMANDU: The final hearing of the rape case involving cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been postponed once again.

A single bench of Judge Prakash Kumar Pandit of the Kathmandu District Court rescheduled the final hearing for September 7, citing time constraints. The case was fifth on the bench’s daily cause list for Sunday.

Lamichhane has been accused of raping a minor girl.

Since the court is not hearing the case until September 7, it is likely that Lamichhane will depart for Pakistan to join the national squad, currently in the country for the ACC Asia Cup 2023. The leg-spinner has been named in the squad. He, however, didn’t leave with the national team because of the hearing scheduled for Sunday.

Nepal is scheduled to play Pakistan on August 30 and India on September 4 in the Asia Cup.
