Filmmaker Shahi selected for Cannes Producers Network

KATHMANDU: Nepali film director Pradeep Shahi, known for the film Eklo, has been selected for the prestigious Cannes Film Festival’s ‘Cannes Producers Network.’

This year’s Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to take place from May 13 to May 24 in Cannes, France.

Eklo is a science fiction that weaves the spirituality and mythical backdrop of the Nepal Himalayas. The film features Netflix star Jamie Bacon, who is also its co-producer. Currently in post-production, Eklo blends Eastern philosophy with Western cinematic thriller elements, depicting a future where humanity stands on the brink of destruction.

Shahi has previously directed films such as 1915: Legend of the Gurkha and Antim Sanskar. The release date for Eklo in Nepal has not yet been confirmed.

According to the official Cannes website, the Cannes Market, held from May 13 to 21, will host 15,000 film industry professionals, showcase 4,000 films and projects, organize 250 film events, and see participation from 140 countries.
