KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu organized a talk program on “Kashmir: A Test of International Law and Conscience” to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day on Wednesday.
According to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Pakistan, journalists, analysts and human rights activists attended the program.
Messages from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar were read out on the occasion. They reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Kashmir’s right to self-determination.
President Zardari called Kashmir one of the oldest unresolved conflicts, accusing India of attempting to suppress Kashmiri identity, the statement read. Likewise, PM Sharif denounced human rights violations in the region, while FM Dar urged the UN to implement its resolutions for a peaceful resolution.
Also speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi emphasized the role of international law and global conscience in addressing the Kashmir issue.
