KATHMANDU: Eight climbers, including a Nepali guide, have gone missing and four others were injured after an avalanche struck an expedition team at the Yalung Ri in Gaurishankar Rural Municipality-9 of Dolakha district on Monday morning.
Citing local authorities, the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal said a 15-member team, comprising both foreign and Nepali climbers, had set out to scale the peak on October 27. The group was caught in an avalanche during the ascent, leaving several members trapped under the snow.
According to the APF, a joint rescue team of 50 personnel from the APF Border Outpost (BOP) in Lamabagar, the Nepal Army and Nepal Police has been deployed to the site for the rescue.
The expedition was organized by Dreamers Destination, Kathmandu.
