KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has published the list of candidates elected as members of the House of Representatives from different political parties under the proportional representation (PR) system.
The EC announced the list of 110 lawmakers on Monday.
Six political parties have crossed the minimum threshold of 3% of valid PR votes to be eligible for the PR seats. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won 57 seats under the PR system, while the Nepali Congress (NC) has been allotted 20 and 16 seats, respectively. Similarly, the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has been allotted nine lawmakers, while the Shram Sanskriti Party (SSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have been allotted four each.
The parties had submitted their nominations from the closed list of PR candidates to the EC on Sunday. The EC verified the lists submitted by the political parties and published the final list of candidates on Monday.
The EC will now submit the election report, including the list of lawmakers elected under both the first-past-the-post (FPTP) and PR systems, to the President. Once the report is submitted to the President, the election process will be considered complete.
The President will then initiate the process of government formation.
