EC prepares to hold elections of President, Vice President

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) is preparing to fix the date for the election of the President and Vice President.

“We have held discussions about holding the election for the President and Vice President. The EC will take a decision to this extent soon,” Surya Prasad Aryal, the spokesperson for EC, said.

The EC made the provision since the President and Vice President Electoral Act, 2017 requires the EC to fix the election date one month before the term of the President and Vice President expires, Silwal said.

The election of the President and Vice President will have to be held on separate dates because of a legal provision that requires President and Vice President to be from different gender and community.
