EC invites political parties to attend discussion on March 5 election

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has invited political parties for a discussion on October 16 on the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

According to Election Commissioner Dr Janaki Kumari Tuladhar, the EC has sent invitation letters to political parties that had representation in the dissolved House of Representatives, as well as those that secured at least one ward member in the previous election, to attend the discussion.

The EC has sent invitations to parties including the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), among others, to attend the discussion on the March 5 election.

Although the EC has already published the election schedule, Dr Tuladhar clarified that it was for internal planning purposes. “Final decisions regarding the election programme and related matters will be made after consultations with the political parties,” she maintained.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki held a discussion with EC officials regarding the March 5 election on Tuesday.
