EC calls on parties to register for HoR, National Assembly elections

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has called on political parties to register for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5 and for the National Assembly elections scheduled for January 25.

Issuing separate notices on Friday, the EC invited parties to register for both elections. Parties will have to register for the House of Representatives election from November 17 to 26 and for the National Assembly election from November 17 to 23, according to the notice.

For party registration, the EC has instructed parties to submit details related to the party, the date of the party’s original registration with it, and other required documents.

One-third of the seats in the National Assembly will fall vacant on March 4.

Province assembly members and chairpersons/mayors and vice-chairpersons/deputy mayors of local units vote in the National Assembly election.
