KATHMANDU: Vehicle driving licenses will now come with a 10-year validity.
The government has amended the Motor Vehicles and Transport Management Act, 1992, to extend both the initial licence duration and the renewal period from five to 10 years.
The new changes, which included amendments to 77 laws, came into effect after they were published in the Nepal Gazette on Friday.
Before the amendment, Clause 54(3) of the Act stated that a driving licence would remain valid for five years from the date of issue. The revised provision has extended this validity to 10 years. Similarly, Clause 56(3), which allowed renewals for another five years, has also been amended to allow for ten-year renewals.
This means new driving licences will now be valid for 10 years and renewals will also be required once every 10 years.
