DRI files cases against Nepal Can Move for tax evasion

KATHMANDU: The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has filed a case against the promoters of Nepal Can Move Pvt Ltd, a courier company, for evading tens of millions of rupees in taxes at the Patan High Court.

According to Krishna Kumari Shrestha, deputy director general and spokesperson of the DRI, the case has been filed against the shareholders of Nepal Can Move Pvt Ltd, located in Tinkune of Kathmandu-32, Thinkune. The accused include Sudeep Acharya, Jeevan Gyawali, Ganga Bahadur Thapa, Manish Prasad Acharya, Mithu Paudel and the company’s Deputy Executive Director Sangam Paudel.

Shrestha said the accused colluded to evade taxes amounting to Rs 684.4 million. The DRI has demanded recovery of Rs 1.36 billion, which includes the evaded amount plus a 100% penalty, she added.
