KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has appointed Dr Rupak Sapkot as his foreign affairs adviser.
Dr Sapkota, who holds a doctorate in international relations from China’s Renmin University, is regarded as an expert in international relations and foreign affairs.
He teaches international relations and diplomacy at Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu.
“I have received information of the appointment. But I have not received the appointment letter yet,” Dr Sapkota told Himal Press.
Sapkota holds expertise in international relations, geopolitics, foreign policy, national security and strategic affairs. He also served as deputy executive director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs.
He has a good command of the Chinese language. Dr Sapkota is the son of former Speaker and CPN (Maoist Center) leader Agni Prasad Sapkota.
