KATHMANDU: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRMA) has advised all concerned to not operate night bus service on September 27 and 28.
Issuing an advisory on Thursday, the NDRMA advised against operating night bus service stating that night travel in mountainous and hilly regions is dangerous as it becomes difficult to detect landslides and floods in overcast conditions.
It also urged farmers to postpone paddy harvesting or securely store any already harvested crops. The NDRMA has advised farmers not to store grains on ground floors where possible. “Those living near riverbanks are cautioned to remain especially vigilant,” it added.
The NDRMA issued the advisory based on the weather forecast for the next three days made by the Weather Forecasting Division. The division has forecast heavy rainfall in 56 districts from Thursday to Sunday.
