KATHMANDU: Domestic air ticket prices have come down by up to Rs 455 depending on routes.

According to a notice issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on Wednesday, the fuel price surcharge added to flight fares has dropped by up to Rs 455.

The reduction in fuel surcharge means the fare for the shortest flight, to Simara, has decreased by Rs 90, while the fare for the longest domestic flight from Kathmandu, to Dhangadhi, has decreased by Rs 445.

Nepal Oil Corporation reduced the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by Rs 10 per liter, or 6.3%, on Tuesday.

A fuel surcharge of Rs 79.79 per minute per seat is applied to trunk routes, while the surcharge for STOL routes is Rs 57 per seat per minute, according to CAAN.

Airlines charge fuel surcharges as well as airport service tax on their flight fare.
