KATHMANDU: Resident doctors of major hospitals in Kathmandu took out a protest in Kathmandu on Tuesday, demanding action against individuals manhandling doctors.
Doctors from Bir Hospital, TU Teaching Hospital and Patan Hospital, among others, demonstrated at Maitihgar.
Doctors in white coats chanted slogans against the government for inadequate security arrangements at hospitals and also sought resignation of the home and health ministers.
Relatives of a patient manhandled Dr Anil Shah at the Manipal Hospital, Pokhara, on Monday afternoon, accusing the doctor of negligence, which they believed, led to the patient’s demise.
Likewise, Dr Bikash Thapa and Dr Prashant Bidari were brutally thrashed while on duty at Sancho Hospital, Hetauda, on September 13.
Police arrested the assailants after doctors across the country stopped all but emergency health services, demanding action against the assailants.
