KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Sunday said no one should oppose the decision to provide Rs 200,000 each to disqualified Maoist combatants.
Talking to reporters in Janakpurdham on Sunday, Shrestha claimed that the decision had been made by the previous government. “Since the disqualified combatants have played a significant role in the transformation that we have seen, it is the duty of the state to provide them some relief,” he added.
The cabinet recently endorsed a working procedure to distribute Rs 200,000 each to Maoist combatants. However, Minister for Finance, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, has stated that he has no knowledge of such a decision.
