KATHMANDU: The diplomatic community has paid tributes to Sita Dahal, wife of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who passed away in Kathmandu on Wednesday morning.
Sita passed away at Norvic International Hospital in Kathmandu at 8:33 am. According to the hospital, she was a known case of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Parkinsonism, Diabetes Mellitus-II and Hypertension, and was receiving domiciliary oxygen intermittently.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his condolences on the passing of Sita Dahal. Modi wrote in a tweet post that he was extremely saddened to learn about the demise of Mrs Sita Dahal. “I express my sincere condolences to Prime Minister Dahal and pray that the departed soul finds eternal peace. Om Shanti,” he wrote.

Similarly, US Ambassador to Nepal Dean R Thompson has also condoled Sita Dahal’s passing. “On behalf of the US Mission to Nepal, I want to express my deep condolences to Prime Minister Dahal and his family for the passing of his wife, Sita Dahal. Our thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time,” Thompson wrote in a tweet post.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song reached the party office of the CPN (Maoist Centre) to pay the tribute to late Sita Dahal.
Likewise, Australian ambassador to Nepal Felicity Volk wrote in a tweet post that her thoughts are with the bereaved family at this sad and difficult time. “I offer my deep condolences on the demise of Madam Sita Dahal, wife of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal,” she wrote.

India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has also condoled Sita Dahal’s death. Foreign Affairs Department in-Charge of the party, Vijay Chauthaiwale, wrote in a tweet post, “My heartfelt condolences to PM of Nepal and his family for the sad demise of Mrs Sita Dahal. May Pashupatinath impart the departed soul eternal peace and give strength to her family to face this tragedy.”
