KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana on bail of Rs 300,000.
The bench of District Judge Shiva Prasad Khanal issued the order on Monday.
Rana had appeared before the court on Monday morning to record his statement.
Police have charged Rana with treason, criminal mischief, organised crime, and other offences in connection with the Tinkune incident of March 28, which claimed two lives. Protesters also vandalised several government offices and business establishments during the pro-monarchy demonstration.
Earlier, police had released him on a personal bond due to his health condition. However, Rana had gone out of contact following his release. He appeared before the court after police initiated the process to arrest him again.
