Dhakal calls for probe into cooperative fraud allegations against Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: Suspended General Secretary of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Dr Mukul Dhakal has said that the party is disgraced because of President Rabi Lamichhane.

Writing a letter addressed to Lamichhane in response to a letter seeking clarification on why he shouldn’t be removed from the general membership of the party, Dhakal said Lamichhane should explain why the party shouldn’t form a committee to investigate cooperative fraud charges against him.

“To this day, you have repeatedly insisted that you have made no mistakes and that there can be no investigation against you, deceiving the entire party and the Nepali people. I too had believed your lies to be true,” Dhakal said in his letter. “But a division bench of the Supreme Court Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Saranga Subedi has already ruled that there should be an investigation into the cooperative fraud case against you. Will you accept the Supreme Court’s decision or not?”

Dhakal has also asked Lamichhane whether he allows an investigation within the party as per the ruling. “The president of a party formed to bring good governance to the country should have the courage to allow investigation into allegations against himself. Do you have the courage to be ready for investigation?” he questioned.
