KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs held a courtesy meeting with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al-Muraikhi, in Muscat on Sunday.
In the meeting held on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference, the two held discussions on Nepal-Qatar relations and other issues of bilateral interests
During the meeting, Minister Deuba requested Minister of State Al-Muraikhi for assistance in securing the release of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi who is currently under the control of the Hamas group. She also praised the role played by the Qatari government in mediating a ceasefire and peace talks between the Israeli government and Hamas.
Minister Deuba earlier made a similar request during a phone conversation with Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi.
Dr Al-Khulaifi is the chief negotiator and mediator in the peace talks between the Israeli government and Hamas.
