KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is holding a discussion with two vice presidents and two general secretaries at his residence in Dhumbarahi.

This is the first time that Deuba is conferring with senior party leaders after CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ditched the five-party coalition to form a government with the support of CPN-UML and other fringe parties.

Vice presidents duo Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhanaraj Gurung, and general secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma are attending the meeting.

“We are at Dhumbarahi. The President has invited us to discuss some matters,” NC Vice President Gurung told Himal Press.

According to Deuba’s secretariat, two close confidants of Deuba – Gyanendra Kumar Karki and Prakash Sharan Mahat – are also attending the meeting.

The meeting is seen with great significance as news reports claimed Friday morning that Deuba has offered the post of PM and four ministries to Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) in his attempt to break the seven-party coalition. RPP has set a few conditions to join the Dahal-led government.

Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to take the vote of confidence on January 10.
