
KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to travel to Prayagraj in the Uttar Pradesh state of India on Thursday to attend the Mahakumbh Mela.
According to Deuba’s secretariat, the former prime minister will reach New Delhi at 3 pm. He will take a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers on Friday.
Other NC leaders like General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat and Arjun Narsingh KC have already attended the Mahakumbh Mela.
Deuba is scheduled to attend the ‘Kumbh Global Summit on Development and Sustainability’ organized by the India Foundation in Prayagraj. The summit will see the participation of delegates from 19 countries.
NC sources say additional programs for Deuba have also been finalized during his stay in India.
