KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that he is hopeful that party leader Bal Krishna Khand will get justice.
Addressing the 1st Convention of Rupandehi District Committee of NC on Tuesday, Deuba hinted that he would protect Khand.
He was responding to district-level leaders who complained that Khand was framed and that the party was not doing what is necessary to support Khand.
Khand, who hails from Rupandehi district, is in judicial custody for investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugees scam.
“It is natural to be concerned about Khand because he has represented the district many times,” Deuba said. “We shouldn’t speak on sub judice cases. But I am hopeful that he will get justice.”
Deuba also mentioned that the lack of necessary equipment was hindering the smooth operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport.
Also speaking on the occasion, NC Joint General Secretary Kishor Singh Rathour said that although NC is a powerful force in the country, the party was weakening as party leaders and cadres do not have the patience to listen to others.
Likewise, central committee member and Member of Parliament Dr. Chandra Bhandari said that betrayal by party leaders and cadres was weakening the NC.
NC leader and Lumbini Chief Minister Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary complained that the provincial governments were not being allowed to exercise the rights enshrined in the constitution.
