KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur has been elected from Dadeldhura district in remote far-western Nepal for a record seventh time
The Nepali Congress President was the common candidate of the five-party ruling coalition in the district. He received 25,534 votes – about 12,000 more than his closest contender independent candidate Sagar Dhakal.
While Dhakal got 13,042 votes, Karna Bahadur Malla of Nepali Congress (BP) received 7,535 votes.
Before this, Deuba was elected to the House of Representatives from the Dadeldhura constituency in 1991, 1994, 1999 and 2017 general elections as well as in 2008 and 2013 Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.
He was also elected from the Kanchanpur-4 constituency in 2008 CA election.
Deuba is currently serving his fifth term as the Prime Minister and has already set his eyes on the sixth term.
