LUMBINI: The detention hearing for Rabi Lamichhane in the Supreme Cooperative fraud case at the Ruupendehi District Court is set to be prolonged.
Ten government lawyers representing the victims presented their arguments before the bench of District Judge Pralhad Kumar Yogi on Thursday. According to Yagyamurti Gyawali, the registrar of Rupandehi District Court, lawyers representing the victims and Lamichhane are yet to present their arguments. “The hearing will resume at 10:30 am on Friday,” he added.
Chief Joint Attorney Somkanta Bhandari, Chief District Government Attorney Prem Raj Paudel, District Government Attorneys Umakumari KC, Gokarna Raj Ghimire and Basanta Raj Pokharel, among others, presented their arguments on Thursday.
The Supreme Cooperative fraud case was initially filed in mid-April 2024. A supplementary complaint was filed against 14 individuals in September. Police investigated the case and recommended registering additional charges with over a dozen facts and evidence. Along with Lamichhane, GB Rai, Chhabi Lal Joshi, Kumar Ramtel and Shiva Bahadur Gurung, among others, were made defendants.
