KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha has requested the Israeli government to secure the release of Nepali national Bipin Joshi from Hamas’ captivity.
Shrestha made the request during a meeting with the Ambassador to Israel to Nepal, Hanan Goder, at the ministry on Tuesday, according to foreign ministry Spokesperson Amrit Bahadur Rai.
Goder paid a courtesy call on Shrestha and congratulated him for assuming the office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs.
“Issues concerning bilateral relations, mutual interests, and the expansion of cooperation between the two countries were discussed during the meeting,” Rai said.
Joshi has been out of contract since the Hamas attack on Israel. The Israeli Defense Force has confirmed that Joshi is being held hostage by Hamas militants.
