KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who suffered a cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning, is fully conscious with stable vital signs, Peking Union Medical College Hospital said in a statement on Thursday.
“Mr Shrestha was presented to the Emergency Room of the International Medical Services at Peking Union Medical College Hospital with complaints of discomfort lasting for two hours on the early morning of October 19th. He was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction and was immediately taken to the Cath lab,” the statement added. “A stent was promptly placed in the obtuse marginal branch, alleviating his chest pain.”
According to the hospital, Shrestha is currently in the medical ICU for ongoing monitoring and treatment.
Shrestha left for Beijing on Monday leading a Nepali delegation to participate in the 3rd Belt and Road Forum (BRF).
