KATHMANDU: Deepak Khadka, the president of the Nepali Congress (NC) Sankhuwasabha District Committee, has resigned from his position, citing his inability to dedicate sufficient time to party duties.
“In order to expand the party’s presence in remote areas of the district, a substantial amount of work is required. Despite my best efforts, as a member of the House of Representatives who needs to spend most of my time in Kathmandu, I find it challenging to allocate enough time to the district,” Khadka stated in his resignation letter, which he submitted to NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba. “I kindly request the party to accept my resignation and appoint a new leader for the district, empowering them to strengthen the party’s organization.”
Khadka was elected to post securing 1,198 of the 1,352 votes cast in the party’s district convention. He is close to the party’s anti-establishment faction led by Dr Shekhar Koiralal.
He is also the incumbent lawmaker representing Sankhuwasabha.
