KATHMANDU: A petition has been filed at the Patan High Court, demanding that Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane and three others be kept in custody until a final verdict in the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative fraud case is issued.
The Patan High Court Government Attorney Office registered the petition challenging the Kathmandu District Court’s decision to release Lamichhane on a bail of Rs 6 million.
Along with Lamichhane, the Patan High Court Government Attorney Office has sought the detention of former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, Swarnalaxmi’s Accounts Committee Member Sunita Newa, and Loan Sub-committee member Kamal Lama, who were also released on bail in the same case.
Pokhara High Court Government Attorney Office has also challenged the Kaski District Court’s decision to release Lamichhane on bail of Rs 6.5 million in another fraud case related to Pokhara-based Suryadarshan Cooperatives.
Lamichhane has been released on bail of Rs 10 million by the Rupandehi District Court and Rs 5.4 million by the Chitwan District Court in similar cooperative fraud cases.
