Death of medical students: Car driver sent to judicial remand

POKHARA: The Kaski District Court has remanded Man Bahadur Baniya, the driver of the car that mowed down two medical students in Lekhnath of Kaski on December 10, to judicial custody.

A single bench of District Judge Rishi Ram Acharya issued the order on Sunday. Dilliram Baral and others have filed a complaint against Baniya with the police.

Anisha Khadka (23) of Hemja and Bhavana Baral (24) of Zerokilo, both students of Gandaki Medical College, died when Baniya’s car hit the scooter they were riding on at Sundaribazar in Lekhnath.

Meanwhile, friends and relatives of the victims assembled on the court premises and demanded strong action against the culprit.
