DDA bans production, distribution of nine medicines [With names]

KATHMANDU: The Department of Drug Administration has banned the production and distribution of nine types of medicines.

Issuing a notification on Tuesday, the DDA instructed pharmaceutical companies to stop production and distribution of these nine medicines until a recommendation is received from Drug Advisory Committee.

Six of these medicines are prescribed to diabetic patients, two are painkillers and one is used to treat and prevent blood clots.

The decision was taken by the department on November 27 as per the recommendation of the Drug Consultative Council.

Banned Medicines:
1. Linagliptin 2.5mg
2. Linagliptin 10mg
3. Rivaroxaban 5mg
4. Aceclofenac 200mg
5. Aceclofenac 300mg
6. Linagliptin Metformin (2.5mg+500mg)
7. Linagliptin Metformin (2.5mg+850mg)
8. Linagliptin Metformin (5mg+500mg)
9. Linagliptin Metformin (5mg+850mg)
