KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has been elected to the House of Representatives from Rukum East.
According to the District Election Office, Dahal secured 10,240 out of 19,188 votes cast.
His closest contender, Leelamani Gautam of CPN-UML, secured 3,462 votes. Similarly, Kusum Devi Thapa of the Nepali Congress (NC) secured 3,081 votes.
A total of 34,772 voters were registered in the constituency.
This win marks Dahal’s fifth victory in the parliamentary election. He was elected to the House of Representatives from the Gorkha-2 constituency in 2022. Before that, he was elected from Chitwan-3 in 2017, Siraha-5 in 2013, and Kathmandu-10 and Rolpa-2 in 2008.
