Dahal rules out joining government for now

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that joining the government is not on his party’s priority list.

Speaking to journalists in Chitwan on Sunday, he dismissed interpretations that the Maoist Center’s criticism of the government meant they were seeking to join it. “There is no plan to join the government at present,” he said. “This government is not performing well. Raising concerns about its performance should not be understood as our desire to join it.”

Dahal added that his party does not have any interest in becoming a part of the government right now.

He added the Maoist Center would hold a meeting of its Central Committee after completing its Mid-hills Highway, which will resume after a month.
