KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal met Nepal Communist Party (NCP) General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand on Monday.
Dahal reached Chand’s residence in Harisiddhi, Lalitpur, for the meeting.
The meeting is seen with great significance since the Maoist Center has formally decided to start unification talks with the NCP. While the Maoist Center has been pushing for unity, Chand seems to be against an immediate unification.
Second-tier leaders of the Maoist Center have held multiple meetings with NCP leaders. Since those meetings failed to make much progress, Dahal decided to hold talks with Chand himself, according to Maoist Center sources.
