Dahal proposes holding special general convention to elect new leadership

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has proposed holding a Special General Convention of the party

Addressing a meeting of the party office-bearers on Sunday, Dahal said a new leadership should be chosen by holding a special convention in Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December).

“Given the special circumstances, let us hold a special convention and elect a new leadership,” Dahal said in the meeting.

Dahal proposed the office-bearers to take a formal decision and present it to the Central Committee.

Maoist Center sources say the Central Committee will take a decision to dissolve all party structures, from grassroots to central level, and form a convention organizing committee. This organising committee will then be authorised to hold the convention in Mangsir.

A Maoist Center office-bearer said Dahal also proposed to convene an emergency meeting of the Central Committee within a week.
