KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has proposed an increase in the number of central committee members to 409.
According to Vice Chairman Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who also serves as the Spokesperson for the party, Dahal suggested amending the party statute to enhance inclusivity and accommodate some senior leaders in the central committee
Currently, the Maoist Center’s central committee has 387 members.
Dahal’s proposed amendment aims to ensure 25% representation of women in the central working committee, promoting gender inclusivity, Mahara added.
The Maoist Center also has 199 alternative central committee members who are also allowed to participate in the central committee meetings.
Likewise, 41 members from the discipline, accounting, and election commissions of the party; and 90 office-bearers from seven geographical and three non-geographical province committees of the party are also attending the central committee meeting, according to party general secretary Dev Prasad Gurung.
