KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is leaving for the UAE on Wednesday to participate in COP 28 – the 28th meeting of the Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The COP 28 is being held in Dubai from November 30 to December 12.
Dahal is leading a Nepali delegation to COP 28, which includes his daughter Ganga Dahal, Minister for Forest and Environment Birendra Mahato, and other high-ranking government officials.
Dahal is scheduled to deliver a national statement at the COP 28 World Climate Action Summit on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Likewise, he is hosting a high-level side event entitled “Call of the Mountain: Who Saves Us from the Climate Crisis?” to raise the voice of Nepal on climate change as well as to promote the mountain agenda in the COP negotiation process.
According to the ministry, Dahal is also scheduled to attend the 52nd Union Day Celebration of the United Arab Emirates and the Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards Ceremony hosted by the UAE.
He will also visit the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, address the Nepal-UAE Business Summit, and interact with the Nepali community.
